Whistles

 Whistles

Kerry Whistles are the makers of Kerry and Chieftain whistles which are some of the most popular instruments we have ever sold. The Chieftains are now much easier to finger with the repositioned bottom hole.

Howard & Harper whistles are handcrafted by a gunsmith with great attention to detail. Models are available in other keys to order, and also with intricate engraved design. Brian Howard, also well known as a pipemaker, has been one of the pioneers of low whistle making. These are the new improved design with modified mouthpiece.

Plastic recorders have been popular for many years, but the first decent plastic whistles were the Susatos from the USA. Tony Dixon is also making a growing range of good quality plastic whistles in England.

Tin Whistles are made from metal, but not usually tin these days. Some are made from a sheet of tin rolled into an elongated cone with a wooden mouthpiece block , others from a tube of brass with a plastic mouthpiece, or alternatively with a metal block and a crimped mouthpiece.

Wooden Flagolets. Handmade in the USA by Ralph Sweet, the Sweetheart whistles produce a satisfying resonant recorder-like tone. One of our all time favourites and always a good seller. The new Adler wooden whistles are amazing value, and have a beautiful recorder sound also.
