Plain Coconut Karimba

This wonderful instrument, also known as an Mbira is extremely popular.

A highly polished, half coconut shell is used to create a sound chamber that amplifies the 7 notes suspended above.

The keys are plucked with the fingers or thumb hence the common name 'thumb piano'.
