For Student Flutes, Tony Dixon contributes with budget priced cylindrical plastic models, very easy to play and care for, and with a surprisingly good tone. The Glenluce Pratten system models are among the best student Irish flutes you can find, and all made from selected African Blackwood.

Sweetheart Flutes are made by Ralph Sweet. He makes a range of easy to blow fifes and flutes in his workshops in the USA. The rosewood ones have a really full clear sound, and the examples in maple and fruitwoods are light and responsive.

Our Handmade fulte section shows some of the best flutemakers in these islands. John Rutzen, a Scot, works in Donegal making great flutes using modern materials and the old traditional methods. Arie De Keyzer is well known for the excellent flutes and pipes he makes in Malahide, near Dublin. Tony Dixon is the latest addition, with a light and versatile rosewood unkeyed instrument.
